George Ramos's traditional regalia as sketched by Kari Glass 25 April 1996 at Yakutat High School. Charismatic, animated story teller, cultural leader and Tlingit elder, George Ramos in the oral traditions captivated the listeners and shared the tales of his people and clan.

The ceremonial dress shirts were made with sea beaver commonly known as ermine pelts which were almost hunted to extinction by early European explorers who exploited the pelts for European royal regalia. The bird is probably the ravin tribe's talisman with the frog house insignia.

Anchorage Symphony Orchestra 2001 Halloween Production: TOPSY TURVY TALES

Kari Glass designed the magical 7' tall Book of Topsy Turvy Tales

THE TOPSY TURVY TALES, a fairy tale medley was produced by the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra on Halloween 2001 in collaboration with many local actors, and presented on the Atwood Stage in the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. Buzz Schwall designed, built an operated Belle--an enormous dragon puppet. Kari Glass was lead prop and puppeteer-grip for the production. Kari helped Buzz in and out of the puppet harness, relayed cues and stage directions, controlled the puppets left eye and steadied Buzz the puppeteer upon their dark, 15' high perch hidden behind the scrim.

Kari Glass designed, painted, and assembled the larger than life size book. At the top of the show the book opens and a whimsical and dashing soldier/prince/ASO conductor comes to life seemingly from off the giant page to lead the orchestra. The magically mixed up Book of Topsy Turvy Tales was used throughout the production introducing favorite fairy tale characters as they appear to come to life from off the page inside the book.
